Turkish babies found in debris of presidential plane

Sixteen babies under a year old have been rescued by rescuers in Turkey after the earthquake that hit the country on Monday.

According to Turkey’s Family and Social Affairs Minister, Derya Yanik, the babies were found alone and transported by presidential plane to Ankara, the Turkish capital.

The minister has released pictures of the children on the plane, which belongs to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, appearing in one of them with one of the babies in her arms.

“We found 16 beautiful babies, up to one year old, alone and transported them from Kahramanmaras to Ankara” wrote Derya Yanık, also talking about children’s health condition. “The general health of our children is very good.”

In addition to Turkey, Syria was also affected by the major earthquakes that hit the region. The rescue and search for survivors continues despite the 17,000 deaths recorded so far, a number that could increase.
