The Chinese state press advances that an unidentified flying object was detected flying off the Rizhao region, on the east coast of the country. The Global Times newspaper explains that authorities are preparing to shoot down the flying object and fishermen have been advised to protect themselves.
The episode comes after three aircraft flying over the skies of the United States and Canada were detected and shot down in the last two days.
A suspected Chinese spy balloon spent nearly a week hovering over US and Canadian airspace before being shot down by US planes last week.
The US military shot down a second object in Alaskan airspace on Friday, but authorities did not provide details on the type of flying object shot down.
