UN agencies this Wednesday launched a plan to address Ukraine’s humanitarian needs, asking the international community for $5.6 billion (5.2 billion euros) to help 15.3 million Ukrainians by 2023.
The plan was presented today at a press conference in Geneva by United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi and United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator Martin Griffiths, underlining the growing needs in Ukraine.
Of the total amount, $3.9 billion (€3.63 billion) will be managed by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), led by Griffiths, and the remaining $1.7 billion (1, €58 billion) will go to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), which will help 4.2 million Ukrainians who have fled to other European countries.
