The FBI is searching classified documents in a file donated to the university by Biden

In recent weeks, the FBI has conducted searches at the University of Delaware, in the northeastern part of the country, as part of an investigation into the improper possession of confidential data by the current president, Joe Biden.

A person with knowledge of the matter confirmed to the Associated Press, on condition of anonymity, that the searches had been carried out – something also reported by CNN television – but did not disclose whether the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had found.

In 2011, Joe Biden donated the archive of his 36 years in the United States Senate to the University of Delaware, where the then vice president was studying, to open two years after Biden left public life.

Biden’s records in the US House of Representatives are not covered by the Presidential Records Act, although a ban on misuse of classified information still applies.

The university is the fourth place searched by the FBI, which discovered classified documents in Joe Biden’s home, also in Delaware, and in his former Washington office.

Both the White House and Biden himself have underlined their full availability to cooperate with the investigations and have sought to distance themselves from the case of confidential documents found by the FBI at former President Donald Trump’s mansion (2017-2021) , in Mar-a. – Lake (Florida).

On January 12, Attorney General Merrick Garland moved forward with appointing conservative Robert Hur as special counsel to investigate the case.s papers classified as classified and found in private locations, including the home of former Vice President Mike Pence.

Pence’s case is very different from Trump’s, as the former vice president requested a review of the documents stored in his home as soon as other documents were discovered in his former office.

The Justice Department is also trying to determine whether Trump, or anyone on his team, criminally obstructed the investigation by refusing to hand over the documents.

The situation forced the United States National Archives to ask all former presidents and vice presidents of the country to review their personal records to determine if they have any confidential documents.
