NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg will make a call this Saturday at the Security Conference in Munich, Germany, to give Ukraine “what it takes to win the war with Russia,” according to his speech.
“We must give Ukraine what it takes to win and survive as an independent and sovereign nation in Europe,” read the text of the speech the official will deliver today at the Munich Security Conference, broadcast on Saturday on Agence France Presse (AFP).
Russian President Vladimir Putin “is not planning peace, he is planning more war,” Stoltenberg said in his speech, at a time when NATO fears a large-scale offensive by Russian troops.
According to Stoltenberg, “there is no indication that he [Vladimir Putin] changed its ambitions”, while Russia is mobilizing “hundreds of thousands of troops” and seeking “more weapons from authoritarian countries like Iran and North Korea”.
On Friday, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called for more aid from Western allies to Kiev, including military aid, while there is no sign of reconciliation on the frontline in eastern Ukraine.
“Today is very clearly not the time for dialogue,” acknowledged Macron, who has tried to maintain channels of communication with Vladimir Putin, sometimes drawing strong criticism from other European countries.
