The death toll from the heavy rains that hit the Brazilian state of São Paulo last weekend rises to 40 and humanitarian aid will be distributed today, according to the local government bulletin.
Official information indicates that, so far, 40 deaths have been confirmed, of which 39 in São Sebastião and one in Ubatuba.
Search, rescue and rescue work continues in the region, where the São Paulo Social Fund and the State Civil Defense Coordination
The bulletin indicates that the Department of Roads and Highways (DER) partially released traffic at various points that were completely blocked on the Rio-Santos highway (SP-055), in the section between São Sebastião and Ubatuba.
Currently, the teams continue their work to reopen traffic in Praia Preta. On the rest of the way to São Sebastião, users can continue with the stop and go operation.
This catastrophe occurred in the middle of the Carnival festivities, during which the coastal cities of São Paulo receive large numbers of tourists.
