Pyongyang accuses Guterres of ‘unfair’ attitude in condemning missile tests

North Korea on Wednesday accused United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres of having an “extremely unfair and unbalanced attitude” in condemning the recent missile test, ignoring “US hostility to Pyongyang” .

Following the North Korean ballistic missile (ICBM) test on Saturday, Guterres “strongly condemned” the test and reiterated his call for Pyongyang to immediately refrain from further provocations.

In the same statement, the UN Secretary-General urged North Korea to resume talks on the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula.

“To be more regrettable, the United Nations Secretary General is making a series of remarks that make no sense and are similar to those made by US State Department officials,” said North Korea’s deputy secretary of state Kim. Son Gyong, in statements published in the official North Korean press.

Kim Son Gyong said the test was in response “to the threat” posed by the US deployment of long-range bombers used in joint exercises with South Korea earlier this year.

The test was also a “warning” in light of the United Nations Security Council meeting on North Korea.

North Korea viewed the joint exercises as training for an invasion and expressed “concern” over the use of US B-1B bombers.

“The UN Secretary-General must understand, just as he must understand, that the position taken is biased towards the situation in the Crimean peninsula and that he is acting in a manner that incites hostile action by the United States. against North Korea. mention.

In November, North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui said Guterres “is a puppet of the United States” for condemning Pyongyang’s missile tests.
