Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko will make an official visit to China between Tuesday and Thursday, the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced on Saturday.
“At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko will pay a state visit to China from February 28 to March 2,” said ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying, quoted by the French agency. -Press (AFP).
Lukashenko is a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin and has supported the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Belarus is financially and politically dependent on Russia.
Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang informed his Belarusian counterpart: Sergueï Aleïnik, in a phone call on Friday, about Beijing’s willingness to work with Belarus to deepen their mutual political trust, reads a statement from the Chinese ministry.
In September, Xi Jinping and Lukashenko announced a strategic partnership at a meeting in Uzbekistan.
