A bird collided with the wing of an AirNorth plane on arrival in Dili on Monday, causing no damage and forcing the aircraft to remain on the ground for evaluation before returning to Darwin, according to airport sources.
The report of the accident, to which Lusa had access, shows that the impact of the bird when the Embraer E190, from the Australian airline AirNorth, landed, did not cause damage, as can be seen in the photographs of the plane.
“However, AirNorth will send an engineer to Dili for final evaluation,” an airport source told Lusa.
Passengers due to proceed to Darwin were informed that they would have to remain in Dili until the matter was resolved.
Lusa tried unsuccessfully to contact AirNorth in Darwin, in northern Australia.
