Ex-husband’s family sued after body parts of Hong Kong model discovered

Hong Kong police have charged Abby Choi Tin-fung’s former father-in-law and brother-in-law with murder after finding parts of the model’s body and a skull believed to be hers.

Authorities also arrested Choi’s ex-husband on Saturday and charged him with murder on Sunday night, Superintendent Alan Chung said.

Choi’s ex-husband will appear in court on Monday along with three other family members: the father and older brother, charged with murder, and the mother, charged with perverting the course of justice, police said in a statement.

Choi has had financial disputes involving tens of millions of Hong Kong dollars with her ex-husband and his family, Chung noted, adding that “some people” were unhappy with the way the 28-year-old managed her finances.

Choi shared a glamorous life of photo shoots and fashion shows with over 100,000 followers on Instagram. In a tulle dress, the model had recently attended a Dior fashion show during Paris Fashion Week.

The latest publication was a week old, featuring a photo session with L’Officiel Monaco, a fashion magazine.

Choi had been missing for several days when police discovered her dismembered body parts and some documents on Friday. The remains were found in a refrigerator in a house in Tai Po village, on the outskirts of Hong Kong.

Superintendent Alan Chung revealed on Sunday that the skull of a young woman, police say is Choi, was found in one of the jars seized by authorities, along with ribs, hair and dust.

Forensic doctors found a small number of human bones in a second pan, he added.

“There’s a hole at the back of the skull, so the pathologist believes that must be the fatal attack on the victim,” Chung said.

The supervisor noted that there is every reason to believe that the woman was attacked in a vehicle and was unconscious when she arrived at the house.

Police are still trying to determine the exact time of death and locate the victim’s hands and torso.

On Sunday, the police arrested another woman, who is believed to have had an affair with her ex-husband’s father, because she allegedly helped the suspects. The woman will have rented the house with her father, as well as another place to hide Choi’s ex-husband.
