Belarus says Russia is supplying the country with new war equipment

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said on Monday that Russia had supplied Minsk with Iskander tactical missile systems, S-400 anti-aircraft systems and sent about a million projectiles of various calibers.

“In order to equip the Belarusian part of the Regional Grouping of Armed Forces (Russia and Belarus), the Russian part has provided us with operational and tactical systems for Iskander missiles, with a sufficient reserve of missiles,” Lukashenko said. . quoted by Minsk official bureau, BELTA.

The information about the alleged shipment of weapons was circulated by the official body after a meeting of the Minsk government on the acquisition of war materials.

Lukashenko, the main ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow’s military campaign against Ukraine, added that Russia had supplied Belarus with “S-400 long-range anti-aircraft systems”.

“The (Belarusian) army got what it wanted. It is a formidable weapon,” said the head of state of the Minsk regime.

Lukashenko also said that Belarus had acquired a Tor (anti-aircraft) missile system battery; anti-tank missiles; mortars; flamethrowers and 830,000 ammunition of various calibers.

The head of state also said that Russia will provide Belarus with “Su-30M aircraft, Mi-35M helicopters, armored vehicles (unspecified), as well as various types of weapons, missiles and ammunition”.

It is equipment “necessary for a rapid and adequate response given our demands and current threats,” he added.

“I want to emphasize that, despite the pressure of unprecedented sanctions, we have produced enough weapons and war equipment to meet the needs of the Belarusian army,” Lukashenko said.

Quoted in the same BELTA note, Lukashenko thanked the “entrepreneurs” who managed to preserve the capabilities inherited from the Soviet Union regarding “the production of microelectronics and optical systems”.

“Thanks to we can produce any type of armaments with Russia. We can also afford to export these products to 57 countries,” he said without mentioning the states.

Lukashenko noted that “national companies” have supplied the military with more than “500 units of new military equipment” by 2022, without specifying the type of material.

On the other hand, he expressed his dissatisfaction with the “low level” regarding the development of unmanned aerial vehicles (drones).

“In developing the production of drones, we pay a lot of attention to measures to respond to these types of weapons. Radio systems developed by Belarusian specialists are in great demand,” he said.

Lukashenko also said that Belarus has “created a robotic system that combines means of detecting and destroying air targets”.
