The war has been more intense these days in eastern Ukraine and Kharkiv, one of the cities most affected by the destruction, is now under reconstruction.
A building of the local university, which had been bombed, was inaugurated a few days ago. However, hundreds of buildings are left without the necessary works, in a city that is usually inhabited by about two million people, but where much fewer people live.
According to the city authorities, the number of people who are still in Kharkiv should not reach a million and a good part of those who still live there prefer to stay at home. On Sunday night and Monday morning, sirens sounded several times, although there were no explosions.

The trade is open and there is a lot of it, but even that does not prevent the city from being empty. In the Izium area, the closest to the war front, reconstruction has not even begun. Most of the buildings are still affected by the war and many of them are uninhabitable.
Few people can be seen on the street and those who stayed in the city were the oldest. In a village near Kharkiv, out of some 500 houses there, not one is intact. Like Izium, this town was also occupied by Russian forces. Even so, all this does not prevent the place from being inhabited by about 20 people.
Many want to return, but the destruction does not allow this to be possible, at least for now, say the people who stayed there.
More than destruction and emptiness, what fills this part of Ukraine is fear. Everyone has a war story, but few want to tell it. And even those who opened up to TSFit was clear they weren’t telling everything they know.
Security is also tighter in this part of Ukraine than in other places. There are still many checkpoints and many soldiers on the streets. Many Ukrainian army cars circulate on the road that connects Izium with Kharkiv, both in the direction of the war front and others in the opposite direction.
What they were doing could not be understood, but the type of vehicle indicates that it is logistic support, since they were not tanks. These, both Russian and Ukrainian, fill the streets of the eastern part of the country, being completely destroyed.
