Year-on-year inflation in France rose to 6.2% in February, two tenths more than in January, mainly due to food and services, according to the first estimate of the indicator from the French National Statistics Institute (INSEE), published today.
The increase in food prices between February 2022 and the same month this year is 14.5%, compared to the 13.3% year-on-year rise registered in January, INSEE reported in a statement.
The difference is especially marked for fresh products, with an increase of 14.2% in February, compared to 10.2% in January.
The other important factor in accelerating inflation is services, with an interannual increase of 2.9% in February, compared to 2.6% in January.
In the case of manufactures, this increase rose to 4.6% in February, one tenth more than in the previous month.
Energy prices, for their part, rose 14% in the twelve months to February, against 16.3% in January.
