Three people die when two planes collide in Colorado

Three people died on Saturday after a collision between two planes near Denver, Colorado, in the United States of America, authorities said.

The two occupants of one of the planes were found dead in the wreckage and the occupant of the second plane was also found dead in the wreckage at a separate location, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

The collision occurred shortly before 9:00 a.m. local time. The identities of the victims were not released.

The National Transportation Safety Board said in a statement posted on Twitter that it was investigating a collision between a Cessna 172 and a Sonex Xenos near Longmont, Colorado.

Longmont is approximately 30 miles (48 kilometers) north of Denver.

The Sonex Xenos is a two-seater ultralight. The Cessna 172 Skyhawk is a popular single-engine, four-seat aircraft.
