G20. Moscow and Beijing accuse West of “blackmail and threats”

The foreign ministers of Russia and the People’s Republic of China accused Western countries of using “blackmail and threats” to demand unilateral positions.

Speaking on the sidelines of the G20 meeting in New Delhi, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Chinese counterpart Qin Gang “unanimously rejected attempts to interfere in other countries’ internal affairs to impose unilateral positions through blackmail and threats”.

The joint statement from Moscow and Beijing was released through a statement from Russian diplomacy.

Also at the G20, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken this Thursday asked Russia to extend the agreement on Ukrainian grain exports that expires this month.

“It is imperative that the G20 expresses itself in the name of extending the cereals ‘initiative’, ensuring the strengthening of food security for the most vulnerable,” he called.

The G20 meeting in the Indian capital started at the beginning of the week and the work focused on the situation in Ukraine.
