Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas’ Reform Party won Sunday’s parliamentary elections with 31.2% of the vote, taking 37 of the 101 seats in parliament. [Riigikogu]The international press reported this Monday.

“The expectation of the voters is that the Reform Party [centro-direita] lead the new government. That’s clear. Everything else we will have to discuss. The main opposition force, the Estonian Conservative People’s Party (EKRE), came second with 16.1% of the vote and 17 seats in parliament, followed by the center-left Center Party with 15 .3% and 16 seats, according to the final vote count.
The liberal Eesti 200 party, created in 2018, won 13.3% of the vote and 14 seats in Parliament, while the prime minister’s current coalition partners, the Social Democratic Party (SDE) and Isamaa, reached 9, 3 %. [nove lugares] and 8.2% of the votes [oito assentos]respectively.

The leaders of the European Union (EU) institutions today congratulated the Estonian Prime Minister on her party’s victory in Sunday’s parliamentary elections.
“My sincere congratulations to Kaja Kallas on the election results. I look forward to the continuation of our close cooperation,” said the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, on the social network Twitter.
The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, was also delighted with the results obtained by her friend Kaja Kallas and congratulated her on her victory in the Estonian elections.
“Since the beginning of the war, Kaja Kallas has been a strong voice in our support for Ukraine,” Metsola said on Twitter.
Metsola, who made his second trip to the war-torn country last Saturday, said the two will continue to “work together, for peace with justice, for security.”
