The Belgian press advances that the alert originated in a notification from the European Commission, addressed to the Belgian authorities, after their security services intercepted a message, “written in Russian”, indicating precise objectives to carry out an attack in Brussels.
According to the newspaper Le SoirBelgian police say they take the threat “very seriously”, and have already carried out inspections “with police dogs capable of detecting explosives”. The investigations carried out “were negative”, not detecting signs of explosives.
“But we remain very vigilant, all police services are on high alert,” quotes the newspaper, which also points out that the Federal Attorney’s Office has already opened an investigation to identify the author or authors of the bomb attack threat.
