Three people died on Thursday at a mine in Spain’s Catalonia region after an accident this morning, local emergency services said.
The three victims are workers of the company that operates the Súria potassium (salt) mine, located on the outskirts of Barcelona, about 70 kilometers northwest of the Catalan city.
The workers had been trapped at a depth of 900 meters due to the accident, which caused a collapse in one of the mine galleries, according to the same sources from the relief and rescue teams cited by various Spanish media.
