At least two people were killed and nine others injured after being struck by a pickup truck Monday in the small Canadian town of Amqui, Quebec, police said.

According to Radio-Canada, police were able to arrest the driver of the van. He is a 38-year-old man from the region. An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of the tragedy, Sûreté du Québec spokeswoman Hélène St-Pierre said.
On Twitter, Quebec’s Minister of Public Safety, François Bonnardel, evokes “a serious accident”, a “tragedy”.
