The French president, Emmanuel Macron, receives this Tuesday the Prime Minister, Élisabeth Borne, and parliamentary leaders, at the Élysée Palace, after having passed, by nine votes, a motion of no confidence motivated by the controversial pension reform.
According to the French Presidency, Emmanuel Macron will meet in the morning with Élisabeth Borne and the parliamentary leaders of the three parties that support the government.
Subsequently, he has scheduled a lunch with the presidents of both legislative chambers, of the National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet, and of the Senate, Gérard Lacher.
At the end of the afternoon, the parliamentarians of the parties that support the president will be summoned to the Élysée Palace.
This succession of meetings occurs after the political crisis opened by the pension reform in France, which has generated demonstrations in the country, stoppages and strikes in various sectors.
The opposition, which in the National Assembly was nine votes away from censuring the Government and overthrowing this reform, asked the President to abandon it and call legislative elections.
After the executive approved the motion of no confidence, Élisabeth Borne guaranteed that she would continue with the reform program, while protest demonstrations were registered in various parts of the country.
