War in Ukraine: Vladimir Putin announces “partial mobilization” in Russia

The President of the Russian Federation has indicated that only men present on the reserve lists and with previous military experience can be summoned.

In a televised speech broadcast this Wednesday morning, the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, decided to take a new step in the Ukrainian conflict, announcing the partial mobilization of the Russian reserve forces.

While, until now, only professional soldiers from the Moscow army were officially deployed to Ukraine, now it is those present on the reserve lists and with military experience who can be deployed there. A decision “at the height of the threat we face,” said Vladimir Putin.

“We are going to mount a partial mobilization. Only citizens who are on the reserve lists, and especially those with military experience, should be mobilized,” the Kremlin patron declared.

“The conscription call must be followed by compulsory training to prepare the soldiers for the special military operation,” he said, indicating that these new soldiers will have “the same benefits as contract soldiers.”

Proof of Vladimir Putin’s desire to move quickly to this new stage of the conflict, he indicated that he had already signed the decree regarding this “partial mobilization”.

As for the referendums on the independence of certain occupied Ukrainian territories, lambasted both by Kyiv and by the West, Vladimir Putin wanted to show this Wednesday his determination to carry them out.

“As part of the referendums in four regions, the inhabitants will be able to decide on their fate,” Putin said. Referendums that will affect the Kherson, Lugansk, Donetsk and Zaporizhia regions.
