Sexual messages from the president of the French football association lead to an audit

The French government announced on Friday that it was carrying out an audit of the French Football Federation (FFF), following the publication by So Foot magazine of an article denouncing various body irregularities involving the president.

On September 8, based on anonymous statements, the magazine denounced the sending, via mobile phone, of sexual messages from the president, Noël Le Graët, 80, to employees of the FFF.

The decision to conduct a control audit was taken this Friday after a meeting between the Sports Minister, Amélie Oudéa-Castera, Noël Le Graët, and the Director General of the FFF, Florence Hardouin.

“The minister told them that the General Inspectorate of Education, Sport and Research would monitor the management of the FFF and the fulfillment of its mandated obligations,” a statement from the Ministry of Sport said.

According to the document, “Noël Le Graët undertook to cooperate with the investigation and to provide all requested data related to its management”.

The minister considered it essential that “the FFF continue its activities with absolute respect for all its employees, regardless of their hierarchical level, and to prevent all forms of discrimination,” the statement said.

The So Foot magazine article accused President Noël Le Graët, who rose to leadership of the FFF in 2011, of sending sexual messages to several female employees, indicating that they felt “sexually and morally harassed.”

The FFF responded Thursday, saying, after an executive committee meeting, it is filing “a defamation complaint” against So Foot magazine.
