The president of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, has postponed the trip he would make to China as head of state next week on medical recommendation, according to a statement released today by the Brazilian government.
“As a result of medical advice, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva decided to postpone his trip to China. The postponement was already communicated to the Chinese authorities with the reiteration of the desire to schedule the visit on a new date”, says the Press Secretary of the Presidency of the Republic of Brazil.
According to the medical bulletin included in the same statement, “President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was admitted to the unit of the Sirio-Libanês Hospital – Brasilia, on 03/23/2023 with flu-like symptoms. After a clinical evaluation, he was diagnosed with viral bronchopneumonia due to influenza A, starting treatment”.
“After today’s reassessment and, despite the clinical improvement, the medical service of the Presidency of the Republic recommends postponing the trip to China until the viral transmission cycle ends,” he concluded.
