On the day Lula da Silva was due to travel to China, doctors advised the president to stay in the country because of bronchopneumonia, which was easily aggravated by the age of the head of state, 77 years old.
According to the medical bulletin cited in a statement, “President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was admitted to the Hospital Sirio-Libanês – Brasília ward on March 23, 2023 with flu-like symptoms. After clinical evaluation, a diagnosis of bacterial and viral bronchopneumonia was made. was caused by influenza A, treatment is started.”
China has been Brazil’s largest trading partner since 2009 and one of the main sources of investment in Brazilian territory. In 2022, trade between the two countries reached a record amount of 139.4 billion euros.
