UNITA, the largest Angolan opposition party, maintains that the government of João Lourenço must reflect on the signal given this Friday by the Angolan people, with significant adherence to the peaceful protest “On March 31, stay at home”.
The initiative that caused many Angolans to miss work this Friday came from a group of activists led by Nelson Adelino Dambo, known as “Gangsta”, in response to the social difficulties the country has faced in recent years.
The National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) demonstrated “in solidarity” with the protest, said TSF the secretary general of the UNITA presidency, Diamantino Mussokola.
“In all parts of the country, the populations stayed at home, in some areas a little more, in others less, but we understand that all Angolans are united in what they consider to be the repression of their rights and the permanent violation of human rights. as well as a bad government that is causing a lot of unemployment and poverty”.
Faced with the call to “stay at home”, launched on social networks, the Government launched a counter-protest which it called “On March 31 I am going to bumbar (work)”, but the first ones were clearly victorious. says Diamantino Mussokola.

“The Government put a lot of police on the street, but since people stayed at home” there were no incidents, he points out.
For the general secretary of the UNITA presidency, the Government has to learn lessons.
“It was a clear sign that the Government must reflect deeply to improve its public policies, because it was very concrete proof that, after all, the people, when they want to, act, carry out and achieve. This time I stayed at home, but who knows… If I were a ruler, I could reflect very deeply and seek to improve the conditions that are at the base of this widespread discontent.”
