“Serial donor”: Dutch man charged with fathering more than 500 children

Dutch musician and YouTuber Jonathan Jacob Meijer, 41, is being charged with fathering more than 500 children in the Netherlands, according to the Donorkind Foundation.

Donor Child Foundation, aid and support organization for children born by artificial insemination accuses the so-called “serial donor” of donating sperm not only in the Netherlands, but also in Denmark, Ukraine and Germany.

According to ABCNews, Jonathan Jacob Meijer was banned from donating sperm in 2017 by the Dutch Society for Obstetrics and Gynecology. He was then already the father of 102 children from 11 different clinics.

In the Netherlands, a donor is only allowed to father 25 children to prevent possible cases of incest.

The Donorkind Foundation, according to ABC News, fights donor anonymity by “making it too complicated to keep track of how many children each has”.

“I speak to children and adults who are constantly afraid of interacting with siblings without knowing it,” said Ties van der Meer, the association’s president, quoted by ABC News.

The foundation also asks to destroy Jonathan Jacob Meijer’s samples.

“If I had known that he was already the father of more than 100 children, I would never have chosen this donor. Thinking about the consequences this could have for my son makes me sick. Going to court is the only way to protect my son,” said Eva, Dutch who had a son from Jonathan in 2018.
