French Secretary of State on the cover of Playboy as a form of female assertiveness

Former Secretary of State for Equality of Women and Men (2017-2020), Marlène Schiappa, currently responsible for the Social and Solidarity Economy, gave an interview to the edition of Playboy that will be published this Thursday, where she poses on the cover wearing a long white dress.

Throughout the pages, the ruler poses with a French badge or flag with various ‘looks’, including a fitted “Maison Close” brand dress.

In the interview, Schiappa defends the right of women to “do exactly what they want”.

“If they want to dress like nuns and never meet men, that’s their choice and we should support them. If they also want to pose nude in a magazine. Although I will be dressed as far as I’m concerned.” .”stressed the Secretary of State.

Schiappa claims to be “direct” and says he takes “pride” of writing erotic literature, “a universe where consent is highly respected”.

On Playboy, Marlène Schiappa answers unconventional questions, such as “is politics an aphrodisiac?”, and emphasizes that political struggle produces “adrenaline”.

The French ruler also confides that she is “obviously and like many women” a victim of inappropriate behavior by men, but points out that “many men are good guys”.

The announced publication of this interview led to fierce criticism of Schiappa last week, including from Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne, who “did not consider this initiative appropriate, especially in the current period”, on social unrest as a result of the controversial pension reform.

Isabelle Rome defended today that “if you are a minister, you must have a sense of responsibility”.

“Pretending posing in Playboy promotes women’s freedom, I highly doubt. Hers, perhaps. Others’, no,” emphasized the equality minister, for whom “defending women’s rights in Playboy means fighting anti-Semitism through attribution an interview with Rivarol”, an extreme right-wing weekly.

“I remember when the founder, Hugh Hefner, was charged with sexual assault. At some point, it’s necessary to choose the ‘media,'” added Rome, who lamented that this episode is making “great publicity” for Playboy, a magazine that, for the minister, will never be an ally of women.

Isabelle Rome, the French minister responsible for equality between women and men, this Wednesday criticized the decision of her government colleague, Marlène Schiappa, to appear in Playboy, as it represents a “condensation of all sexist stereotypes”.

“I wonder why you chose Playboy to promote women’s rights when this magazine is a compendium of all sexist stereotypes?”underlined Rome in statements to the newspaper Le Figaro.
