Protesters hold protests in Tel Aviv despite Friday’s attacks

Organizers of protests against judicial reform in Israel have announced that the demonstrations planned for this Saturday in Tel Aviv will continue, despite the deadly attacks recorded on Friday, and will be carried out in coordination with the police.

“Protests against the dictatorship will continue as planned and in full coordination with the Israeli authorities,” the organizers said in a statement.

“We will continue to fight the dictatorship as if there was no war against terrorism and we will continue to support the Israeli Defense Forces as if there was no fight against the dictatorship,” the organizers explained, emphasizing that the Israeli government has failed in all respects. areas.

An attack in central Tel Aviv on Friday night left at least one man dead and five injured, Israel’s aid agency Magen David Adom (MDA) said, adding that “all of the victims are tourists”.

This Saturday’s protests follow three months of massive demonstrations against the judicial reform promoted by the government of Benjamin Netanyahu, which plans to give more power to the executive at the expense of justice, whose independence would be seriously compromised.

While Netanyahu recently announced the postponement of legislative processes to advance a reform agreed with the opposition over the coming months, the protesters have shown distrust in the prime minister’s real intentions and continue to protest week after week.

In view of Saturday’s demonstrations, the police announced the deployment of thousands of officers across the country with the aim of maintaining order and public safety.
