The Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces ordered the mobilization of Air Force reservists after the bombings in the Gaza Strip and on Lebanese territory.
As reported by local newspaper Yedioth Aharonoth, Herzi Halevi gave the command, which covers assault and defense reserves, after a visit to the northern command this Friday.
The Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, had already ordered the “immediate” mobilization of four units of the Border Police reservists in the face of clashes between Israelis and Palestinians.
The Israeli army bombed Hamas infrastructure in the Gaza Strip, where the Islamist movement is in power, amid escalating Israeli-Palestinian violence and tension in East Jerusalem, amid Jewish, Christian and Muslim religious festivals.
