Netanyahu says Israel will act “on all fronts” to “restore security”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed in a televised intervention Monday night to “restore security” in his country by acting “on all fronts” after a new deterioration in violence in the Middle East.

“We will not allow terrorist Hamas to settle in Lebanon,” Netanyahu added, after the Israeli army accused the Palestinian Islamic resistance movement of being responsible for launching dozens of rockets into northern Israel on Thursday.

Netanyahu also announced that he will keep his defense minister, Yoav Gallant, in office after announcing his resignation in March. due to a political dispute related to judicial reform.

During the televised speech, Israel’s head of government indicated that he had decided to “overcome” disagreements over a reform, which he eventually shelved due to a wave of protests and a general strike that threatened to paralyze the country.

These statements coincide with a rise in tension in the region following several days of violence that began last Wednesday when Israeli police attacked the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem and drove out, beat and arrested hundreds of Palestinians in the middle of Ramadan.

In response, Palestinian and pro-Palestinian militias launched dozens of “missiles” (missiles) at Israel, to which the Jewish State Army responded with retaliatory bombing.

Following the escalation, an Egyptian delegation traveled to the area on Sunday, aiming to meet with Israeli and Palestinian leaders in an effort to calm tensions.
