At least 43 migrants who were on board a small boat were rescued this Tuesday by the Salvamar Leo ship, of the Spanish Maritime Rescue, off the coast of Alicante, in southern Spain.
According to a Red Cross source, 28 men, 10 women and five girls were traveling on the boat, apparently in good health, although they received medical attention in the port of Alicante, in southern Spain.
The Spanish authorities mobilized the Immediate Emergency Response Team (ERIE AHI), made up of a team leader, two emergency health technicians, two Arabic interpreters, two ground rescuers and an ambulance with basic life support to assist the rescued migrants. .
These 43 migrants join the more than 400 who, since Friday, have arrived from different parts of the Spanish coast, specifically from the Canary Islands, Andalusia, Murcia and the Balearic Islands.
In the last few hours, 23 people arrived in Formentera in two different boats, another 17 arrived in Cabo de Gata (Andalusia) and some 50 were rescued off the coast of Cartagena (Murcia).
