Ukraine says 180,000 Russian troops have been liquidated since 2022

Ukraine’s Armed Forces indicated on Wednesday that more than 180,000 Russian troops had been liquidated since the start of the invasion that began in February 2022, noting that the latest clashes had resulted in 700 casualties among Russian forces.

A message from the General Staff of the Ukrainian Army on Facebook’s digital platform says that 180,050 Russian soldiers have died, adding that 730 Russian soldiers have died in Ukraine in the past 24 hours.

The same text also states that 3,646 tanks, 2,770 artillery systems, 208 anti-aircraft systems, 307 aircraft, 293 helicopters, 2,334 unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), 911 cruise missiles, 5,630 vehicles and fuels, and 319 parts designated as “special equipment” were not specified.

The data provided by Kiev this Wednesday on casualties and equipment has so far not been verified or accounted for by independent sources.

Russia, which launched its latest invasion of Ukraine in February last year, has not disclosed casualties since September 2022, when Russia’s defense minister confirmed the deaths of 5,937 Russian servicemen.

The Mediazona news portal notes that 19,688 Russian servicemen have been killed since the start of the campaign, including “1,665 in the last 15 days”.

The Mediazona portal, which works with Britain’s official television channel, the BBC, to count the number of victims, says the figures are confirmed by public data, which were not named.
