13 women have accused French actor Gerard Depardieu of sexual assault over two decades, research website Mediapart reported in the latest allegations against him.
The 74-year-old actor has categorically denied any allegation through his lawyers.
Contacted by AFP, the prosecutor said on Wednesday that she had not received any new allegations, but that the investigation into the 2018 allegations that he raped young French actress Charlotte Arnould was still ongoing.
Mediapart said on Tuesday that 13 women had filed complaints about harassment by Depardieu with the set of 11 movies or series released between 2004 and 2022.
The allegations ranged from “a hand in your underpants, crotch, buttocks or breasts” to “obscene sexual remarks”, according to Mediapart.
The abuse took place in front of witnesses and when women complained, crews often laughed and said it was just the way the actor was.
Actress Charlotte Arnould filed a complaint in the summer of 2018, when she was 22, saying she was raped twice by Depardieu at his Parisian mansion.
The actor – Arnould’s friend of the family – was charged in December 2020, but has not been arrested.
None of the 13 women had made an official complaint, Mediapart said, but three had made statements.
One of them told Mediapart that she was an extra in the movie big house 2015, when Depardieu suddenly reached into her dress and she “felt his fingers trying to reach my underpants”.
After pushing his hand away, “he got aggressive. I realized he wasn’t acting. If I hadn’t stopped him, he would have,” he said.
The magazine appeared in 1991 Team questioned Depardieu about a 1978 interview in the magazine Film commentaryin which he described his childhood as difficult and with “many transgressions”
The American magazine also wondered if he had participated in violations, and the actor said yes. “But given the circumstances, it was completely normal.” Depardieu later denied making these comments and threatened to sue the magazine.
