The EU, he added, will continue to coordinate closely with regional and international partners to promote a path towards a political agreement that brings “peace, stability and economic development” to the African country.

Today there were clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the paramilitary group, which accused the Sudanese Army of launching an action against one of its bases in Khartoum, while the Armed Forces assured that they carried it out in response to an attack that the RSF they had already performed previously in that city.

The fighting in Khartoum and other cities in the country has become one of the worst escalations of violence in recent years, which has left at least three civilians dead and dozens wounded, according to the Sudanese Doctors Union.

The clashes take place two days after the Army warned that the country is going through a “dangerous situation” that could lead to an armed conflict, after the mobilization of RSF units in the Sudanese capital and in other cities without the consent or coordination of the Armed Forces. Forces. .

This mobilization occurred during the negotiations to reach a definitive political agreement that would put an end to the 2021 coup and lead Sudan to a democratic transition, a pact whose signing was postponed twice this month precisely due to tensions and rivalries between the Army and the RSFs. .
