The Cape Verdean State will inject one billion escudos (9.1 million euros) annually into TACV, to guarantee the stability and recovery of the airline, before reprivatizing it in 2024, the Minister of Transport announced this Friday.
“By 2024 our forecast is to stabilize the company, to have the company attractive to be able to privatize”, announced Minister Carlos Santos, confirming that in the Government’s accounts there is a global injection of 3,000 million escudos (27.3 million euros ), in three years, including 2022.
The Government’s forecast is to privatize the TACV, renationalized in July 2021 as part of the consequences and restrictions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, after three years of support, with part of the 9.1 million euros planned for this year, according to the minister, it has already been used, that is, to pay salaries in the company.
“This is the goal we have set for ourselves: 2024 [privatização]”, the Minister of Tourism and Transport said today, at a balance press conference of the meeting of the Council of Ministers held the day before, in which the resolution proposal was approved that authorizes the shareholder State to “make available” of the TACV “financial resources to guarantee the stability of the company”.
