Russian President Vladimir Putin traveled to the Kherson region in southern Ukraine to meet with the military stationed there, the Kremlin announced Tuesday.
“The Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation visited the headquarters of the +Dnieper+ military group” in the Kherson region, the Kremlin said in a statement, without specifying when the trip took place.
The Kremlin wants kyiv to recognize last September’s annexation of the Ukrainian provinces of Kherson, Donetsk, Luhansk and Zaporizhia.
The Russian military offensive on Ukrainian territory, launched on February 24 last year, plunged Europe into what is considered the most serious security crisis since World War II (1939-1945).
