A serial rapist has been sentenced to more than 150 years in prison in the US state of Indiana, a television channel reported Monday.
Prosecutors charged Darrell Goodlow with 57 crimes in 2021, including rape, robbery and kidnapping.
The American pleaded guilty to new charges in March, including eight counts of rape and one felony charge of killing a pet, as part of a plea deal.
According to WIXN-TV, quoted by the Associated Press (AP), Marion’s superior judge, Mark Stoner, sentenced Darrell Goodlow to 156 and a half years behind bars.
This television account did not specify when Goodlow was convicted.
Online court records indicate the case was resolved on Friday, but do not say whether the verdict was handed down at that time.
Prosecutors alleged that Goodlow had targeted women in their 60s and 70s on the east side of Indianapolis and in suburban Lawrence.
The US Justice Department charged Goodlow with sexually assaulting eight women on six separate occasions between August 2020 and September 2021.
In some cases, he dressed in condominium work clothes to gain access to his victims’ homes.
According to the police, he killed the dog of one of his victims during an attack.
A fingerprint at one of the locations enabled investigators to identify this American.
They also compared their DNA with evidence collected in all eight cases.
