The note adds that “the Secretary-General reiterates his calls on the parties to cease hostilities and allow all civilians to leave fighting-affected areas” and that “the United Nations will continue to work with its personnel, whether within or out of Sudan”.

Violent clashes have been taking place in Sudan since April 15, in a conflict that has pitted the forces of General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the country’s de facto leader since the 2021 coup, and a former deputy who has become rival, General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, who commands the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary group.
The provisional balance of the clashes indicates that there are more than 420 dead and 3,700 injured, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
