Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday urged the rest of the world to condemn the Russian-organized “pseudo-referendums” underway in four territories it has seized from Ukraine since the start of its invasion.
In his daily address to the nation, Volodymyr Zelensky said he was convinced that “the world will react with the utmost justice to the pseudo-referendums” and that they “will be unequivocally condemned.”
“A bogus pretext”
Echoing him, President Joe Biden warned Russia that the United States “will work with (its) allies and partners to impose swift and harsh additional economic measures on Russia” if it annexes territory in Ukraine.
“Russia’s referendums are a farce, a false pretext to try to annex parts of Ukraine by force,” the US president, who has already taken several trains of economic and financial sanctions against the Vladimir Putin regime, denounced in a press release. .
Hundreds of polling stations were to be opened in the four territories and others in Russia to allow displaced people to vote. At the same time, the mobilization of hundreds of thousands of Russian reservists continued in Russia, seeking the Kremlin the parade with the advances of the Ukrainian army which, with the force of Western arms deliveries, claimed new territorial advances this Friday.
“Save your lives”
On this issue, Ukrainian President Zelensky called on all Ukrainians who are in the Russian-occupied territories to “hide to escape Russian mobilization” and, if they cannot escape, to “sabotage any activity of the enemy.”
“Do the most important thing: save your lives and help us weaken and destroy the occupants,” he urged.
