“Air Assault”. Attack attributed to Israel hits Syrian Aleppo airport

Aleppo International Airport, in northwest Syria, is again out of service due to a missile attack launched last night, blamed on Israel, that killed a soldier and wounded seven people.

“The Israeli enemy carried out an air aggression with a wave of missiles (…) against the airport and various points around the city” of Aleppo, writes the SANA agency, citing an unidentified military source.

According to the Damascus regime agency, the attack killed a Syrian soldier and injured five soldiers and two civilians, as well as causing material damage at the city’s airfield, again suspending air traffic for the third time in recent months.

Last March, these facilities were temporarily out of service on two occasions due to actions attributed to Israel, despite the fact that at that time the airport served as a reception point for international aid for those affected by the earthquake that devastated the area ( and southern Turkey) in February.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights denounces an attack by Israeli aircraft against the Al Nairib airbase, in the same region, with “great material damage”.

Israel, which usually does not comment on attacks on Syrian territory, has not yet made any reference to the news from Damascus about the attack on the Aleppo airport.
