A global operation to combat the illegal trade in dark web led to 288 arrests and the seizure of around 51 million euros in cash and virtual currency, Europol announced on Tuesday.
“The authorities seized the illegal platform (…) ‘Monopoly Market’ and arrested 288 suspected of participating in the purchase or sale of drugs in the dark web“European police said in a statement.

“Our coalition of authorities on three continents shows that we all do better when we work together,” said Europol Executive Director Catherine De Bolle.
The operation spectrum it was coordinated by Europol and involved nine countries, including the United States, Brazil and seven European countries.
850 kilos of drugs and 117 firearms were also seized.
Investigations to identify additional persons behind accounts on dark web they are still ongoing.
