Turks in Portugal will vote for parliament and president this weekend

The Turkish community in Portugal started voting on Saturday for the parliamentary and presidential elections that will take place in Turkey on April 14. It is the first time this has happened and it has to do with the size of the community in the country. which now has 1500 voters’ writings, as Ambassador Murat Karagöz explained in an article published in DN.

The ambassador (pictured above, in the background) guided the exercise of the right to vote by several voters, with voting in Portugal continuing this Sunday. With a significant diaspora, especially in Europe, Turks abroad started voting on April 27 in some countries and ends on May 9 in others. There are 5,000 ballot boxes in 151 embassies and consulates-general in 73 countries and at border posts.

These elections center on the duel for the head of state between the current president, Recep Erdogan, and the candidate of a coalition of opposition parties, Kemal Kiliçdaroglu.
