Two people were killed and three injured after a military plane crashed into a house in India on Monday.
The device, a Russian-made Mig-21, crashed into a house near the city of Hanumangarh, in the state of Rajasthan, during a routine training session, the AFP advances.
The pilot was rescued alive, but two inhabitants of the house died and three others were injured.
“The pilot ejected safely and was not seriously injured,” the Indian Air Force confirmed, adding that an investigation will be launched to determine the causes of the crash.
This is the sixth MiG-21 plane crash since January 2021 in India and the only one in which the pilot managed to survive.
Manufactured in Russia, military aircraft of this model began to be used in India in the 1960s and for decades were considered the backbone of the country’s Air Force. Now they are often nicknamed “flying coffins.”
