Moscow on Monday accused Kiev of sponsoring terrorism and organizing terrorist acts after the head of Ukraine’s secret service, Gen. Kyrylo Budanov, said Ukrainians “will continue to kill Russians in every part of the world.”
“This is a monstrous statement. This statement, what Budanov said, is direct confirmation that the regime in Kiev not only sponsors terrorist activities, but directly organizes these activities,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a press conference on Monday. . .
When asked by a Western media on Sunday about Saturday’s attack on Russian nationalist writer Zakhar Prilepin, the head of the Ukrainian secret service was blunt in his answer.
“All I want to comment on is that we killed Russians and we will continue to kill Russians all over the world until the complete victory for Ukraine,” he said.
Russian authorities said the suspect in the attempted assassination of Prilepin confessed to having been on Kiev’s orders and criticized the silence of international organizations.
According to a statement from the Commission of Inquiry, the suspect in the attack – identified as Alexander Permyakov, of Ukrainian descent – confessed during interrogation that he was “acting on behalf of the Ukrainian special services”.
Prilepin’s car exploded in Russia, injuring him and killing his driver, Russia’s state news agency Tass reported, citing emergency services and police officials.
According to the AP agency, relying on information from Tass, the incident involving the car of Prilepin – a well-known nationalist writer and ardent supporter of what the Kremlin calls a “special military operation” in Ukraine – took place in the Nizhny Novgorod Region , about 400 kilometers east of Moscow.
Last Monday, Russian authorities charged the suspect in the attack on Prilepin with terrorism, with the Commission of Inquiry of Russia stating in a statement published on its website that Permyakov was “charged with crimes under Article 205 [ato terrorista] and 222 [tráfico ilegal de armas] of the Russian Penal Code”.
Likewise, he stressed that “his protective custody as a precautionary measure” had been requested.
Peskov, in the words of this Monday, underlined that Boudanov’s statements reveal a “very important feature of the regime in Kiev”.
“We have special services that will do whatever is necessary in light of these statements,” warned the Kremlin spokesman, for whom the West cannot ignore the words of the head of the Ukrainian military secret service.
“Today we will closely monitor the reaction of the European capitals and also Washington – especially Washington – because it is very difficult to imagine that such terrorist statements from Kiev can go without conviction,” Peskov said.
Finally, the Kremlin spokesman defended that Boudanov’s statements “confirm once again that it was right” the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin to launch the special military operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
