An Australian woman survived five days lost in the forest eating sweets and drinking wine after her car got stuck in mud, police sources say.
In a statement, Victoria Police said the woman, identified as Lillian Ip, was traveling to visit her mother when her car got stuck in mud in a wooded area with no phone signal.
Relatives warned of the disappearance on April 30.
“I thought I was going to die there. I was sitting there thinking: what am I going to do? How am I going to survive?” Lillian Ip told Australian media, adding that she even wrote a suicide note to her family.
Ip survived eating the sweets and drinking the bottle of wine he carried in the car, which formed the gift he brought for his mother.
Martin Torpey, police chief of the city of Wodonga, said Lillian was about 60 km from the nearest town and could not try to walk due to health problems and therefore remained in the car.
The woman was taken to hospital due to dehydration, but has since been discharged.
