A 38-year-old woman survived eight days lost in a forested area in northeastern Australia, drinking water accumulated in puddles, the country’s authorities said on Wednesday.

Mitchell was last seen May 2 near a road in the town of Townsville and, according to authorities, walked “quite a distance” through a wooded area with wildlife, including snakes, until she was found.
The woman, who had no food and only had a liter bottle of water with her, survived by drinking water from puddles.
