The Kremlin recognizes “mistakes” in the mobilization of reservists to fight in Ukraine. As the Russian authorities face the popular protest against the call to the flag of 300,000 reservists, the Russian authorities have admitted to making certain mistakes during the mobilization decreed by Vladimir Putin. Already this Sunday, Moscow had pledged to correct some of these mistakes, including subpoenaing people who were supposed to be exempt.
While only people with “relevant” military experience or skills were to be called up, certain profiles who were of combat age, sick, or exempt for other reasons were eventually called up. An inconsistency that had provoked indignant reactions on social networks, arousing embarrassment and concern from the authorities.
No decision has been made on border closures.
While Vladimir Putin has signed a decree in recent days to prevent defections, Russia also announced on Monday that it had not yet “made any decision” on a possible border closure.
Since the partial mobilization was announced, many Russians have opted for exile. Airports have been stormed and images of long queues at borders have multiplied on social media.
