A total of 120 migrants were rescued at dawn from two inflatable boats by the Spanish Maritime Rescue and disembarked on Tuesday in Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura, in the Canary Islands, the Spanish rescue authorities reported.
After being sighted by the Helimer 205 helicopter, the Guardamar Caliope ship rescued on Monday night, 126 kilometers southeast of Arguineguín, in Gran Canaria, a group of 61 people of sub-Saharan origin -56 men, four women and one minor – who were disembarked during the early hours of this Tuesday on the island of Gran Canaria.
Between Monday night and Tuesday night, the Ízar Maritime Rescue rescued 59 people of sub-Saharan origin who were in another inflatable boat -56 men and three women-, 74 kilometers south of the island of Fuerteventura, in the Canary Islands.
The migrants disembarked in the port of Gran Tarajal on the island of Fuerteventura.
