Russian President Vladimir Putin assured this Monday that his country “has not started any kind of war” and said the “special military operation” launched in Ukraine in February 2022 is of a defensive nature.
“We are often told that Russia has started some kind of war. No. Russia is trying to stop this war they are waging against us with the help of a special military operation”defended the Russian president.
Putin argued that Russia is falling victim to a war in order not to keep its people outside the “historical borders of Russian states”.
“This is a historical injustice (…)”assured Putin, who in recent months has defended the invasion of Ukraine as a way to regain part of a territory and population that, in his perspective, historically belong to Russia.
The Russian president acknowledged that Russia is going through “difficult” times, though he encouraged citizens to take advantage of the context to strengthen the country’s “national sentiment” and “foundations of spirituality”, in addition to promoting economic and educational prosperity.
