Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will meet on Friday with China’s special envoy for the Eurasian region, Li Hui, who is arriving in Moscow as part of a tour of Europe.
Li will also meet Russian Vice Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin, Chinese diplomacy said. The visit serves to prove support for the plan presented by Beijing to end the war in Ukraine.
Beijing unveiled a detailed 12-point peace plan last February, which was met with skepticism by Ukraine and its allies.
NATO Secretary Jens Stoltenberg said that “China does not have much credibility because it could not condemn the illegal invasion of Ukraine.”
The Chinese envoy visited Ukraine, Poland, France and Germany this month.
